Le Républicain Lorrain has published an article on the charity concert organised by the association Humanité Solidarité Médecine (HuSoMe), to be held on Sunday 15 February at the Serémange-Erzange municipal theatre. The aim of the event is to raise donations to support humanitarian work in Gaza.
Raphaël Pitti, humanist doctor and president of the association, explained that HuSoMe has been present in Gaza since 2024, notably through four primary health centres and an orphanage. Faced with the situation of children left alone on the streets, the association rented a villa in central Gaza to house some thirty children. The orphanage, which can take up to 40 children, is run by a team of ten carers, four social workers, a psychiatrist and three security guards. A tent has been set up as a study room, so that the children can continue their schooling. The local team is entirely Palestinian, and the association supervises activities remotely through weekly reports. However, financial resources are dwindling, and Raphaël Pitti concluded that the international humanitarian situation is extremely critical. He stressed that it is imperative to appeal to the generosity of civil society to ensure the continuity of humanitarian work.
To support this cause, a solidarity concert is being held on 15 February, with a programme including:
- A reading of Ibrahim, by the humanist writer Marc Olénine
- Balkan music with the group Troïka
- A performance by Lukas Abdul
- A musical finale with the Moussafir orchestra, with its Moroccan sounds
Volunteer Josiane Szura said that Serémange-Erzange was the only town to offer the venue free of charge for the event. She stressed that HuSoMe’s cause is not political but humanitarian, for children and people living in destitution.
As well as Gaza, HuSoMe is also active in Ukraine and Syria, pursuing its humanitarian mission on several fronts.
