The scale of the disaster
According to the United Nations, one million people were displaced in less than a week. 486 people have been killed and more than 1,300 injured since the start of this phase of escalation, and 500,000 Lebanese registered as displaced within twenty-four hours with the Ministry of Social Affairs.
The country was already starting from a very low base: 80% of the population lived below the poverty line before this conflict. Today, basic resources — water, food, baby milk — are running out.
Our response
In this context, HuSoMe supports Amel Association International, a Lebanese NGO deeply rooted in the country, which shared its appeal to respond to the emergency.
This collaboration helps people affected by the crisis by contributing to the purchase and distribution of essential goods. Choosing a local partner is not a matter of circumstance: it reflects one of the organisation’s three principles of intervention, which ensures local roots and continuity of action after a project ends.
