For several years, four medical care centres in Gaza, originally run by UOSSM International and Caritas International, have been receiving Gazans who are victims of the violence of war.
However, a serious financial problem recently put their operation at risk. For lack of funds, the closure of all four centres became inevitable. This decision would not only have deprived thousands of people of vital access to healthcare, it would also have had dramatic consequences for more than 30 families who make their living from these centres. Health workers, administrative staff and maintenance workers: all suddenly found themselves without resources, without a future.
Faced with this emergency, HuSoMe decided to act. Aware of the human and health stakes, the association made the strong choice to become a financial partner in the project, taking over the running of these centres alongside UOSSM International and Caritas International. This act of solidarity saves the jobs under threat and above all ensures continuity of care for a population already deeply affected by the war, and in constant need of medical care.
Thanks to this mobilisation, the four health centres were able to reopen their doors on 1 May 2025.
It is also concrete proof that international solidarity can make a difference when associations join forces to respond to an emergency while building lasting solutions.
