In the camps for displaced people in Darfur, in western Sudan, thousands of families live in extremely difficult conditions. In the face of these needs, HuSoMe directly supports and funds the humanitarian work carried out by Voice of Justice among displaced people. This commitment allows HuSoMe to contribute concretely to the aid provided to the most vulnerable, especially children, women and older people.
A worrying humanitarian situation
Displaced families face essential needs that remain largely unmet.
Hunger and malnutrition
Many families struggle to find enough food. Women sometimes spend long hours searching for a few basic foodstuffs, and children are particularly affected by malnutrition.
Poor access to drinking water
Access to drinking water is extremely limited. Some people have to use unsafe water sources, increasing the risk of disease. Fetching water can also take several hours.
A lack of care
In the camps, health services are almost non-existent. Sick people can find themselves without medicine or care, in an environment where diseases can spread quickly.
Fear and deprivation of education
People also live in a climate of insecurity marked by the sound of gunfire and reports of attacks. Children, too, are hit hard by the crisis. With no schools, books or teachers, many are deprived of an education.
HuSoMe acts directly on the ground
In the face of these needs, HuSoMe does not simply pass on news of the situation: the association directly supports and funds the work carried out by Voice of Justice among displaced people. This support is part of HuSoMe’s humanitarian commitment to people facing the most difficult situations. Voice of Justice is now calling for humanitarian support in Darfur to be continued and stepped up. HuSoMe remains committed alongside the most vulnerable.
