After an in-depth survey of 1,000 children living in camps in north-east Syria, we identified an urgent need for eye care. These children, aged 4 to 6, are growing up in conditions of extreme hardship, and many suffer from vision problems that affect their ability to learn, play and thrive.
The IBSAR project, led by HuSoMe in partnership with Mari Research & Development, aims to offer these children eye tests and suitable glasses. Thanks to innovative technology, our team can produce glasses in less than 30 minutes, at a cost of just €4 per child.
👓 Why is this project so crucial? Uncorrected vision problems deprive these children of the chance to live fully. With our fast, effective method, every child receives a pair of glasses in record time, giving them the opportunity to learn, play and dream again.
Our team on the ground is made up of:
A coordinating doctor, who ensures the quality of care, An optician, who makes sure every child receives suitable glasses, A nurse, who looks after the children’s well-being during examinations. Each consultation is then reviewed remotely by an ophthalmologist via a dedicated platform, ensuring full medical follow-up.
