Testimony from a HuSoMe project officer in Gaza
The Israeli army has published a new evacuation map covering large areas of Deir al-Balah, including blocks 130, 132, 134, 136, 139 and 2351.
Tens of thousands of residents have been ordered to evacuate immediately… but to go where?
The occupation authorities are directing civilians towards the so-called “Al-Mawasi” zone, supposedly safe, even though bombardments and executions there are constant.
No means of transport. No water. No food. No shelter. No guarantee of survival.
People flee on foot, watched by drones that track them and fire at will.
They cannot take anything with them. There are no cars or carts.
They are hungry, so exhausted that walking becomes an insurmountable ordeal.
Last month, many were surviving on a single meal a day.
Today, some eat only one day in five.
The markets are completely empty. No trace of food.
Only the “luckiest” survive by reaching the American aid drop zones, which have become real death traps.
These distribution zones have become ambushes:
Few come back alive.
Those who survive today may not survive tomorrow.
Everyone knows it: going there may mean saying goodbye to life.
I live in block 129, right next to block 130, which is to be evacuated.
We spent a terrifying night under intense bombardment, the din of tanks and the roar of F-16s.
We have not yet been ordered to evacuate, but we are living on the edge of the abyss.
We do not know when our turn will come, and we have no way of fleeing.
We are living in the summer heat, without electricity, without water.
Our bodies are thin, drained of all energy.
Even walking a few metres has become torture.
This is not life we are living; it is a slow death.
We have been told that humanitarian aid drops will resume.
But we already know what that means:
Parcels that fall on people and kill them.
Homes destroyed. Water tanks smashed. Solar panels — far more precious than food — shattered.
Keeping them intact is better than any package thrown from the sky.
We do not know where to go… or who to complain to.
No one hears our cries.
There is no escape from death:
by bombs, by hunger, or by forced exodus.
We are suspended between life and death, in a relentless summer, under a merciless sky.
This testimony must not be a voice lost in the void.
Thousands of children, families and survivors like him live this agony in silence, every day, under the bombs and in hunger.
🤲 HuSoMe stands by them, to protect, treat and restore a little dignity.
Act now. Give.
Share. Make their cry heard.
