Raphaël Pitti Appears on RCF: HuSoMe at the Heart of Humanitarian Issues

A media appearance aimed at raising awareness of humanitarian issues

Professor Raphaël Pitti, president of the NGO HuSoMe (Humanité Solidarité Médecine), an anesthesiologist and intensive care specialist, and an expert in emergency and disaster medicine, was recently a guest on the program Le Grand Témoin en Région on RCF, hosted by Thierry Georges.

During this in-depth interview, Raphaël Pitti shared his analysis of current international crises while providing valuable insight into HuSoMe’s humanitarian missions for the most vulnerable populations.

An interview focused on contemporary humanitarian challenges

When questioned about the conflicts affecting several regions of the world today, Raphaël Pitti discussed issues related to respect for international law and the role of international institutions in addressing humanitarian crises.

The interview notably addressed the dramatic situation experienced by civilian populations in several conflict zones, as well as the human consequences of this violence on families, children, and displaced persons.

Throughout the discussion, the president of HuSoMe emphasized the importance of upholding the fundamental principles of humanitarian law and protecting civilian populations affected by war.

Gaza: HuSoMe’s daily commitment to children and families

A large part of the program was dedicated to the actions carried out by HuSoMe in Gaza.

Raphaël Pitti provided updates on the orphanage supported by the association, which currently hosts 35 particularly vulnerable children. He explained the difficulties faced from the very first weeks, particularly regarding food supply, in a context marked by severe shortages and limited access to essential resources.

The interview also highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by the population of Gaza, including access to food, clean water, healthcare, and basic infrastructure.

In response to these realities, HuSoMe continues its commitment alongside affected populations, with particular attention to children, displaced families, and the most vulnerable individuals.

HuSoMe mobilized in Lebanon and Sudan

Beyond Gaza, Raphaël Pitti also recalled that HuSoMe’s action extends to other territories affected by humanitarian crises.

The association notably supports local partners in Lebanon to fund the distribution of food parcels intended for displaced populations. A similar form of assistance is also being implemented in Sudan, in collaboration with local organizations.

This approach enables HuSoMe to act as closely as possible to the needs of local populations while relying on field actors already engaged with the affected communities.

HuSoMe’s priorities for 2026

During the program, Raphaël Pitti also presented several priority projects for 2026.

Among them is the support for widows living in Gaza with their children. The aim is to promote their economic independence through the creation of a program enabling the purchase of professional equipment, such as sewing machines or tools intended for small income-generating activities.

The association also aims to continue its efforts to improve living conditions for families by supporting initiatives related to access to water and better housing conditions.

A mobilization made possible through solidarity

Through this appearance on RCF, Raphaël Pitti reminded listeners that humanitarian action is first and foremost based on collective mobilization.

Faced with the scale of needs, HuSoMe continues its missions thanks to the support of citizens, volunteers, and donors who enable the association to assist the most vulnerable populations.

This media appearance provides another opportunity to raise public awareness of the realities on the ground and to emphasize the importance of international solidarity in the face of humanitarian crises.
