On Sunday, February 15, the Municipal Theatre of Serémange-Erzange resonated with the rhythm of fraternity during the charity concert organized by the NGO Humanité Solidarité Médecine (HuSoMe).
In a warm and festive atmosphere, several hundred people answered the call of Professor Raphaël Pitti to support the organization’s orphanage in Gaza.
The evening, passionately hosted by Mohamed Boucharouit and Josiane Szura, began with a heartfelt reading of the text Ibrahim, written by local humanist writer Marc Olénine and performed by actor Didier Benini, accompanied by the music of the Ave Maria, sung by muezzins and a renowned Lebanese singer for peace. This moment of reflection was followed by a diverse and eclectic musical program: from Balkan music by the group Troïka to the performance of Lebanese singer Lukas Abdul, finishing with the Mediterranean sounds of the Moussafir orchestra and singer Salima to close the event. Every note served as a reminder of the urgency to act in the face of the suffering of the 39,000 orphans in the Palestinian enclave.

The success of this mobilization raised over 10,000 euros, a crucial sum to ensure the continuity of care and accommodation for the children in Gaza. Professor Pitti reminded the audience that the organization manages a villa there, converted into an orphanage, where a team of twenty Palestinian professionals—nursery assistants, social workers, psychiatrists, and security agents—care for about thirty children. Thanks to the installation of a tent serving as a study room, the children are able to continue their education despite the chaos. This moment of solidarity, made possible by the municipality of Serémange-Erzange which generously provided the venue, highlights the strictly humanitarian mission of HuSoMe. As international resources dwindle, this event proves that the generosity of civil society remains the last line of defense in protecting these children, in Gaza as well as on our other fronts in Ukraine and Syria.
